A look inside

The whole salon, on one screen.

The register that also feeds commission, inventory, and loyalty. The book that also runs the client record. Every screen shares the same numbers.

One salon. One system. One source of truth. One beautiful experience.

A hair salon runs on hundreds of small things: today's book, the walk-in, the color formula, the retail bar, the tips, the empty chair at three, the client who has not been in eight weeks. Medusa keeps every one of them in one place, with each seat, owner, front desk, and stylist, seeing exactly what their role needs. Six subscriptions retire the day it turns on.

THE PLATFORM

One System, Every Function.

BOOKING & THE DESK

Day grid and week overview. Drag, confirm, reschedule, no-show, cancel. Online booking on your public site writes straight to the same board, so the walk-in and the online request meet at the desk.

CLIENTS, WITH THEIR HISTORY

Full record: visits, color formulas, notes, spend, stats. The whole client at a glance, so the next visit picks up exactly where the last one left off.

TEAM ON EVERY SEAT

Stylist profiles, hours, and individual performance. Owner, front desk, and stylist views are role-gated, and nobody sees the salon's money view but the owner.

REGISTER THAT FEEDS EVERYTHING

Walk-in or booked tickets: services, retail, gift cards, packages, memberships, deposits, discounts, tax, and tips. Split payments, voids and refunds on an audit trail, cash drawer open and close with variance.

MERCH ON THE SHELF

Your customer-facing retail catalog. Every sale attaches to the stylist who sold it and rolls up to revenue and commission automatically.

INVENTORY IN THE BACK

Color, developer, backbar, foils, gloves. Receiving, usage, waste, counts, reorder alerts, purchase orders, and service-to-product consumption. Separate from the retail catalog on purpose.

WAITLIST THAT FILLS THE CHAIR

Clients who want in sooner get matched to openings by service, stylist, and date. When your messaging provider is connected, the text goes out for you.

MARKETING WITH INTEGRITY

Segments (haven't been in eight weeks, due to rebook, new this quarter) and campaign drafts, ready to send. Nothing pretends to send until you connect an email or SMS provider.

Plus a Programs module for memberships, packages, gift cards, loyalty, and referrals, reports broken down by stylist, service, category, and payment method, a reusable Forms module with e-sign, Compensation with commission plans, tiers, booth rent, and pay-period exports, a public client portal for rebooking and receipts, and a schedule that reads on desk or phone with no sideways scroll.

The team side

Every seat, only what it should see.

Owner, front desk, and stylist views shaped to the day. Compensation runs off what actually happened, not off a spreadsheet someone rekeys after close.

HOW IT RUNS

Built for the Front Desk. Serious Under the Hood.

SIMPLE BY DEFAULT

Big labels, plain language, one primary button per screen, and a confirmation before anything permanent. A new hire is running the desk the first afternoon.

DENSE WHERE IT COUNTS

The admin tables read like real software, so a busy salon sees a lot at once. Serious on the surface, still clickable underneath.

THE RIGHT EYES ONLY

Owner, front desk, and stylist views are role-gated. Stylists see their book, their clients' formulas, and their earnings, and never the salon-level money.

INTEGRATION HONESTY

Where a real provider (payments, messaging, payroll) is not connected, the screen says so and stores a draft. Nothing ever pretends money moved.

A BUILT-IN GUIDE

Ask "how do I refund a sale, close the drawer, run payroll" in your own words. Numbered steps and a button to the right screen, matched to your role. No manual to read.

IN YOUR ACCOUNTS

The system runs in your salon's own accounts, and we manage it for you. The clients, the records, and the deployment are yours.

Technical details

Frontend. React 18, TypeScript, and Vite, styled with Tailwind. Mobile-first, verified on desk and phone, with light and dark themes in one build. Real product design conventions: borders not shadows, one primary button per screen, tables that scroll inside their card so the page never scrolls sideways.

Modules. Booking, schedule, clients, team, services, register, revenue, merch, inventory, programs, marketing, reports, waitlist, forms, compensation, website editor, client portal, and settings, all sharing one data model.

Data. The demo seeds a realistic salon relative to today on first load, so every browser opens on a live-looking book you can click through. Going live moves storage, accounts, real payments, and transactional messaging onto managed infrastructure.

Ownership. When you go live, Medusa runs in your salon's own accounts. You own the data and the deployment.

The money side

What actually pays the salon.

Retail on the shelf and revenue at a glance. The KPIs an owner reads first thing in the morning: today, this week, four weeks, eight weeks.

Fill the empty chair

Waitlist and marketing, without a third app.

Match an earlier client to the 3pm cancellation. Reach the client who has not been in eight weeks, from the same shell the desk already lives in.

The client's side

Your website and their portal, edited from the same app.

The salon's public site, edited by tapping the page. A client portal for rebooking, receipts, and gift cards. A concierge for the front desk in plain English, one question away.

THE DIFFERENCE

What Changes When One System Runs the Whole Salon?

SIX SUBSCRIPTIONS

A booking app that does not know about the register
A register that does not know about the crew
A payroll app you rekey numbers into every pay period
A website nobody in the salon can edit
A mailing tool that lives on somebody's laptop
A paper book on the front desk for the walk-ins

ONE SYSTEM

Booking and the register share the same appointment
Every ticket feeds commission, inventory, and loyalty
Payroll built from what happened, exported to your filer
A salon website your team edits by tapping the page
Segments, campaigns, and reviews in the same shell
The paper book retired the day the app turns on

THE PROCESS

How You Get Started.

01

DISCOVERY

We map your salon: your services and packages, your commission plans, your stylist roster, your retail brands, your booking policies, and what you run on today. What you want kept, and what you want gone.

02

CONFIGURE & BRAND

Medusa is set up to your salon: your colors and logo, your service menu, your team, your merch catalog, your commission plans, and your public website. Your existing client list is imported so day one starts full, not empty.

03

LAUNCH

We turn on the desk, connect payments and messaging, walk your team through the system per role, and open the client site and portal. Delivered and live within two weeks of kickoff.

FAQ

Common Questions.

Who is Medusa built for?
An independent hair salon that runs its own book, its own team, and its own retail. Solo suite, single storefront, or a small multi-chair shop. If your salon today runs on a stack of six subscriptions and a paper book on the desk, Medusa is the one system that replaces the stack.
Does our team need to be technical?
No. Every action is clickable, labeled, and confirmed before anything permanent happens. The front desk uses big buttons and plain language, and the built-in concierge answers "how do I" in your own words. A new hire runs the desk the first afternoon.
Can we bring our existing client list over?
Yes. Import your client list from a spreadsheet with column mapping and a validation preview, so day one starts with your real clients already in place. Visit history and color formulas import too, when your current system exports them.
How does commission work?
Compensation supports commission plans (flat percentage or tiered), booth rent, hourly, and hybrids. Every ticket in the register feeds the stylist's earnings automatically: services and retail attach to who did or sold them, tips reconcile per pay period, and the exports drop straight into your payroll filer.
What about real payments and text messages?
The live demo is fully working software with seeded data, so you can try every screen before you commit. When you go live, real card payments, deposits, gift cards, and transactional text messages are turned on as part of the build, running on managed infrastructure covered by your monthly. The demo never pretends money moved.
Where does our data live, and who owns it?
When you go live, Medusa runs in your salon's own Vercel and Supabase (Postgres) accounts. The clients, the records, and the deployment belong to you, fully exportable. We manage it for you, and that hosting and maintenance is included in the monthly.
Can each stylist see only their own book and pay?
Yes. Stylist views are role-gated. A stylist sees their book, their clients' history and formulas, and their own earnings. The salon-level money view stays on the owner's screen, and the front desk sees the day for the whole team without seeing per-stylist pay.
How long does the build take, and how is it priced?
A one-time custom build fee of $2,999 covers your fully branded and configured system, loaded with your services, team, commission plans, retail catalog, and public website. Delivered and live within two weeks of kickoff. After that it is $199 a month for hosting, updates, and support, fully managed. Cancel anytime.
