Purchased systems grant a perpetual, non-transferable license to your customized instance; subscriptions grant access while active. Who is CANOPY designed for?
Small schools and independent educators: small private schools, learning centers, homeschool programs and co-ops, tutoring practices, music and dance studios, camps and retreats. Anyone running a teaching operation who needs to track students, grades, attendance, and communication. It's geared to small schools, and works just as well for a single educator.
Does this work for a single educator or a whole school?
Both. CANOPY is built around small schools (multiple classes, rosters, and staff) and scales down cleanly to a single educator running their own program. We configure it to your size during setup.
Are there ongoing costs?
No platform fees, no subscriptions. You own the system outright. If you add the optional AI assistant, there are minimal processing credits which we walk you through.
What is CANOPY built on?
A Python 3.12 + Flask backend deployed on Google App Engine, with Claude Sonnet 4.6 powering bilingual parent and student communication. Data lives in your own Google Sheets and Drive. See the BUILT ON section above for the full stack.
How long does setup take?
Most CANOPY setups are completed within one week, including roster import, schedule configuration, and training.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. 50% down to start the project. Remaining 50% due at install. Payment plan option: 50% down, 25% at install, final 25% within 30 days.
